The challenge

Reliable information about visas, insurance, taxes and daily life in Japan is mostly published in Japanese, spread across ministries, city offices and forums. Foreigners end up relying on outdated blog posts.

The goal was a single English resource that ranks for the questions foreigners actually search, and earns trust with clear sourcing.

What we built

Topic architecture

Four pillars (Travel, Expat, Business, Tools) with hub pages and an "I am…" selector (moving, working, visiting, planning a trip, doing business) that routes visitors to the right guides.

Search-led guides

Around 50 expat guides and 20+ travel guides, each targeting a specific question such as visas, insurance, banking or buying a business, researched from Japanese primary sources.

Interactive tools

Six calculators: salary, furusato nozei, import duty, JR Pass, trip budget and a study-in-Japan checker. These are linkable assets that answer high-intent questions.

Trust signals (E-E-A-T)

Author pages, an editorial policy and source-backed writing, so readers and search engines can see who wrote what and why it can be trusted.

Job board

A job board for foreign applicants, with a posting flow for employers.

Technical SEO

Static Astro build on Cloudflare, an XML sitemap, WebSite schema with site search, and fast pages on mobile.

Why it matters for your business

This is the same approach we bring to client content: research what people really search in Japan, answer it better than anyone else, and make the expertise visible.
